Elliott & Thompson: Refiner's Fire

"Refiner's Fire" by Richard Bratby tells the story of the Academy of Ancient Music, a trailblazing orchestra that brought historically informed performance into the mainstream and put Vivaldi into the pop charts.

The book celebrates fifty years of innovation, exploration and musical adventure, and is the first telling of the orchestra's complete history. Our objective was to establish Refiner's Fire as a must-read for classical music enthusiasts in the UK and overseas.

Our media campaign achieved an estimated audience of 49.6K views, with an audience of 1.2million (including publication-wide audience figures for all outlets featuring coverage).

Refiner's Fire was selected for the Financial Times Books of the Year and Presto Classical's Books of the Year and endorsed by Stephen Fry, Dame Emma Kirkby, Lucie Skeaping and Catherine Bott. Gramophone Magazine said the book does "affectionate justice to a pioneering, influential ensemble".
