DAMARIS LAKER
Co-Founder & Director
Damaris co-founded Artium in 2017. Damaris has over ten years’ experience in delivering stand-out publicity campaigns across the cultural and creative industries, most recently with Penguin Random House and I-Cubed Group, The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Elliott & Thompson, The Academy of Ancient Music, Cambridge Music Festival, Champs Hill Records and Longborough Festival Opera, Roald Dahl’s Pelicantata world premiere and with the Royal Albert Hall on a live concert performance of Hans Zimmer's Interstellar and A Night Out with Sir Michael Caine.
Damaris is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, the Arts Marketing Association, the Royal Philharmonic Society and the International Artist Managers’ Association. Previously, she worked at Classic FM, Orchid Music and Peters, Fraser & Dunlop.
Damaris studied International Management at the University of Manchester and Marketing at Foster School of Business, University of Washington (First Class BSc Hons) and the University of the Arts, London.
JAMES BROWN
Co-Founder & Director
James is an artist manager with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He founded Hazard Chase Limited in 1990 and is now the Managing Director of James Brown Management.
He was Chairman of the International Artist Managers' Association from 2003-2005 and in 2007 he became an Honorary Member of the Royal College of Music. In 2012 he was made an Honorary Life Member of the International Artist Managers' Association and won the Association of British Orchestras/Rhinegold Publishing award for Artist Manager of the Year.
James has worked on projects with a wide variety of artists including Michael Nyman, Elvis Costello, Carl Davis, Jocelyn Pook, Eddi Reader and Guy Barker, on events featuring amongst others Sting, Michael McIntyre, Sir Michael Parkinson and Vanessa Redgrave, and represented multi-award winning classical artists such as Alpesh Chauhan OBE, Benjamin Grosvenor, Julian Bream and The Tallis Scholars.
He is former Chairman of the record label Orchid Classics and is a partner in the newly established label Blue Cloud Music.
EMMA CHINN
Assistant
With over 10 years of experience working in the classical music industry, Emma started her career at artist agency Hazard Chase, where she progressed from Administrator to Associate Director.
In 2020 Emma started her own business as a Virtual Assistant, working with artists and arts organisations.
Emma graduated from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge with a BA Hons in Music in 2011. During her studies she focused on performance, playing both the flute and jazz saxophone in ensembles and as a soloist.
